Established in 2002, the University of Minnesota Center for Public Health Preparedness seeks to improve the capacity of the Public Health System. The UMNCPHP is funded in part by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention as a member of the national network of centers for public health preparedness.
The UMNCPHP strives to leverage resources through the University of Minnesota School of Public Health Centers for Public Health Education and Outreach. Working in collaboration with state and local departments of health to create a strong public health system through assessment, training, education and evaluation with a primary service area of Minnesota, North Dakota and Wisconsin. The primary purpose of these educational activities is to build competency for preparation, response and recovery from public health threats and emergencies.
