General Course Information

MERET Online Modules

MERET online modules contribute to the preparation of the healthcare workforce by providing competency-based awareness level training on what to do during public health emergencies or bioterrorism events. These modules are appropriate for personnel in hospitals, clinics, and long-term care facilities, community emergency responders, volunteers, and public health agency staff. Topics include: an isolation series (7 modules, 1st 6 currently available), building hospital decontamination teams, psychosocial issues among healthcare workers in disasters, care of mothers and their newborns during disasters, pediatric emergency preparedness, and personal and family emergency preparedness. The above modules will be available by late August 2007.

Emergency Readiness Rounds

Emergency Readiness Rounds is a monthly seminar series on various topics in emergency preparedness for a multidisciplinary audience, offered as a semester-long academic course or for continuing education. Collaboration with University of Minnesota Center for Public Health Preparedness (UMNCPHP).

Face-to-Face Offerings

Workshops and trainings of various lengths are held around the state on topics such as emergency risk communication, CBRNE, tribal/urban American Indian preparedness, personal/family emergency preparedness, designing exercises, pediatric and mother-newborn concerns, and psychosocial issues. Many are tailored to needs of host regions, and most involve opportunities for participants to take part in hands-on activities applying their learning.
