Carolyn Dresler, MD, is an associate professor in the Department of Health Policy and Management, College of Public Health, University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, and Branch Chief, Division of Health, DHHS, Arkansas. She is the former head of the Unit for Tobacco and Cancer Group at the International Agency for Research on Cancer in Lyon, France. Her research and academic interests include the biologic initiation of tobacco-related cancer, the diagnosis and treatment of lung cancer, nicotine addiction and global issues of tobacco control.
Benjamin Mason Meier, JD, LLM, has been an IGERT International Development and Globalization Fellow at Columbia University’s Department of Sociomedical Sciences since 2005 as he pursues his doctorate degree. His interdisciplinary research, at the intersection of political science and public health, examines the insalubrious effects of globalization policies on individual health status and national health systems. He is currently writing a book on the development and evolution of the human right to health.
